
Pack Finishes in Seventh Place at Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate

AWENDAW, S.C. - The NC State men's golf team moved up the leaderboard for the second consecutive day to conclude play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in seventh place.
The Pack shot seven-under par as a team on Tuesday to move up three positions on the team leaderboard.
Junior Benjamin Shipp led the Pack with a four-under par 68 on Tuesday. After shooting a one-over par 73 on the first day, Shipp shot a combined seven-under par in the final day two days of the tournament to finish with a final scorecard of 73-69-89—210 and a tie for sixth place finish.
It is the fourth top-10 finish of the season for Shipp and marks the third time this season the Duluth, Ga., native has had the low score in the NC State lineup.
Easton Paxton and Harrison Rhoades were next for the Pack in a tie for 34th place at three-over par.
Paxton closed Tuesday with his strongest 18 holes of the tournament, shooting a two-under par 70. He finished with a final scorecard of 73-76-70—219.
Rhoades shot the lowest score for the Pack in the opening round on Sunday and finished with a final scorecard of 72-73-74—219.
Stephen Franken shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish the tournament in a tie for 46th place at five-over par. The Raleigh native's final scorecard was 73-76-72—221.
Christian Salzer rounded out the Pack lineup in a tie for 57th place at seven-over par. After struggling in the opening round, Salzer shot one-under par in the final 36 holes of the tournament to finish with a final scorecard of 80-72-71—223.

Tournament-host South Carolina won the event with a three-round score of 22-under par. Kansas finished in second-place seven shots back of the Gamecocks, while College of Charleston finished in third.
The Pack finished just one shot back of sixth place and three shots back of fifth place.
NC State returns to the links Sunday when it begins competition at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in The Hayt.
