AWENDAW, S.C. - The NC State men's golf team shot a three-over par 291 Sunday to sit in a tie for 14th-place at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate held at the Bulls Bay Course.
The Pack was led by Harrison Rhoades who shot an even-par 72 in the first round to stand in a tie for 31st place. The Raleigh native had five birdies in the opening round.
The trio of Stephen Franken, Easton Paxton and Benjamin Shipp all shot one-over par 73 to also score for the NC State lineup and place in a tie for 40th. All three competitors had three birdies in the first round.
Christian Salzer rounded out the NC State contingent with an eight-over par 80 in the opening round.
Missouri and South Carolina are tied for first place at nine-under par, while Kent State is one shot back in third. Despite being in 14th place, the Pack is only six shots back of being in fifth place as the leaderboard is crowded.
