TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The NC State softball team (16-13, 0-5 ACC) dropped a hard-fought battle with third-ranked Florida State (31-3, 4-1 ACC) on Saturday afternoon in game two of its weekend series at JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee, Fla. The Wolfpack narrowly fell, 8-6, as the Seminoles take the series.
The Noles opened the scoring with three runs in the first, and Brigette Nordberg's grand slam in the second gave the Pack its only lead. FSU knotted the game in the third, then scored in the fourth and fifth innings to take a four-run lead. NC State battled back with two more runs on three hits in the sixth to cut its deficit to two, and was unable to bring a run across for a seventh-inning rally.

-Nordberg belted her 13th homer of the season. It was the team's 36th long ball of the year, which ties the total from 2018 in just 29 games.
-Devin Wallace (7-9) took the loss in the circle as she relieved starter Sydney Nester in the third and threw 2.1 innings. Kama Woodall threw an effective sixth inning, not allowing a run to cross.
-Logan Morris led the team with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate while four other players tallied a hit in the contest.
How It Happened

-The Wolfpack responded in the second with Nordberg's grand slam to right field after Chandley Garner, Angie Rizzi and April Visser loaded the bases on a pair of walks and one-out hit-by-pitch.
-FSU knotted the game in the third with an RBI single to short after loading up the bases on a single and pair of walks.
-In the fourth the Seminoles regained their lead thanks to Sydney Sherrill's sacrifice fly to left field after an error and base hit started the side.
-The Noles tacked on three more runs in the fifth with Harrod's three-run blast to center after a one-out single and walk put runners on.
-NC State cut its deficit to two in the sixth. Madeline Curtis's two-out double to center scored pinch hitter Randi Farricker after she led off with a single up the middle, and Visser's RBI single brought Curtis home.
