
Wolfpack Travels To No. 3 Florida State For Second ACC Series

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team (16-11, 0-3 ACC) is set for its second ACC series of the season when it travels to third-ranked and defending Women's College World Series champion Florida State (29-3, 2-1 ACC) this weekend. The teams will play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m., as all three games will be contested at the JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee, Fla., and will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
Series History
Friday will be the 47th all-time meeting between the Seminoles and Wolfpack, as FSU leads the all-time series, 35-11.
The teams last met on May 3-5, 2018, in Raleigh, and the Noles swept the series. Florida State has won eight the last nine games between the squads.
Last Time Out
NC State opened ACC play last weekend against then-No. 25 Virginia Tech in Raleigh and suffered a series sweep.

Sam Russ extended her reached base safely streak over the weekend to 19 consecutive games, which is the longest on the team this season. She also recently held a seven-game hit streak from March 8-16 that featured two-multi hit outings and four extra-base hits.
Her streak is tied for the third-longest in program history, as Renada Davis owns the record with a 32-game streak in 2015 and held a 21-game streak in 2013. Tyler Ross additionally held a 19-game streak in 2017.

Florida State is ranked third in this week's NFCA/USA Today poll, and fourth in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball and Softball America rankings. The team is coming off of a pair of run-rule wins over Florida A&M and North Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, at home. FSU also opened conference play last weekend when it hosted Notre Dame and took the series, 2-1.
Seven players are batting over .300, including four with above a .400 clip. Sydney Sherrill paces the Noles at the plate with a .458 average, .575 on-base percentage, nine doubles and 26 runs batted in, while Cali Harrod owns a team-best 39 hits, 38 runs, nine homers and 73 total bases. As a team, FSU is batting .371 while averaging 9.65 hits and 7.65 runs per game.
Meghan King has made a team-best 14 starts in the circle and has compiled a 1.35 earned-run average in 88 innings pitched. She has thrown nine complete games, including four shutouts, and has hurled 93 strikeouts. The pitching staff owns a 2.00 ERA and is averaging 5.59 strikeouts per game.

NC State returns home for a midweek contest with UNCW Wednesday. First pitch is 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.

Due to poor weather conditions, the Pack's game vs. Winthrop on Wednesday was postponed to April 2 at 6 p.m. at Dail Stadium. The team also added a midweek game to its schedule, as it will host NC Central April 23 at 6 p.m.
