Wolfpack continues to make history during 2019 campaign
TUCSON, Ariz. – After tallying the best start to a season and tying the longest winning streak in program history, the NC State baseball team is ranked No. 1 in a major poll for the first time as the Wolfpack occupies the top spot in the Collegiate Baseball Ranking released Monday.
Â
With a record of 19-1, NC State was one of the last two remaining unbeaten teams in the nation prior to yesterday's loss against Florida State. The Pack was also the last team to drop an ACC game, as the squad is tied with Louisville for the best record in conference games at 5-1.
Â
NC State was ranked No. 2 in the Collegiate Baseball rankings last, which tied the best ranking for the program at the time but has jumped into the No. 1 spot after winning the series against Florida State, who was listed at No. 1 in the poll last week.
Â
Even more impressive than the astounding 19-1 record is the way NC State has accomplished the feat. The Wolfpack has trailed in 11 of its 19 wins and has trailed after the sixth inning in six of those contests.
Â
Additionally, the Pack has won nine one-run games, including three walkoff wins.
Â
NC State will return to action Tuesday evening when the Towson Tigers head to Raleigh. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Doak Field at Dail Park.
