Softball Falls To Virginia Tech

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team (16-10, 0-2 ACC) dropped its second of a three-game series with No. 25 Virginia Tech (20-4, 4-1 ACC) on Saturday afternoon at Dail Stadium, 12-1 (5).
Of Note
-Randi Farricker and Sam Russ each hit a double while April Visser collected a base hit in the game.
-Devin Wallace (7-6), Sydney Nester and Kama Woodall all saw time in the circle. Nester relieved Wallace in the first and Woodall went four innings.
How It Happened
-Tech took a 4-0 lead in the first thanks to Emma Strouth's grand slam to center field after her team loaded up the bases on walks with no outs.
-The Hokies plated five more runs on as many hits, highlighted by three home runs, in the second.
-NC State trimmed its deficit to eight in the home half of the second. Farricker led off with a double to right field and advanced to third on an error, and Jessica Moore's groundout to second allowed her to cross home plate.
-In the fifth, a two-run homer by Grace Chavez and RBI triple by Darby Trull plated three more runs for Virginia Tech.

The Pack will close out its weekend Sunday with this final game of the series against the Hokies. First pitch is 12 p.m. at Dail Stadium and the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
