
Pack Finishes in Seventh Place at Bandon Dunes Championship

BANDON, ORE. – The NC State men's golf team tied for the lowest team round score in the third round to finish in seventh place of the Bandon Dunes Championship held at the Bandon Dunes Resort.
The Pack's combined second and third round team scores were the lowest of the 17-team field, but an uncharacteristic first round score ultimately doomed the Pack into a tie for its worst-team finish of the season.
The seventh place finished snapped a streak of five consecutive tournaments for NC State where it finished fifth or better.
Utah tied the Pack for the low round on Tuesday and used it to move up from second place and claim the team title. Denver finished in second place and Ohio State and San Jose State finished in a tie for third.
The Pack finished two shots out of sixth place and three shots out of fifth.
Christian Salzer registered his top individual finish in a team tournament, finishing in a tie for ninth place out of 107 competitors.
Salzer shot a one-over par 73 on Tuesday, leading the Pack in scoring for the second consecutive day, and finished with a 54-hole score of two-over par.
Stephen Franken was next for the Pack in a tie for 21st place. Franken shot a two-over par 74 in the final round and finished with a tournament score of six-over par.
Like Franken, Shipp shot a 74 in the final round to move up to a finish of 24th place. Shipp finished out shot back of Franken with a three-round total of seven-over par.
Easton Paxton closed his tournament with a 78 to finish in a tie for 40th place at 10-over par.
Harrison Rhoades rounded out the Pack lineup in a tie for 71st place at 17-over par.
Competing as an individual, Nolan Mills, Jr., shot a 78 in the thrid round and finished in a tie for 76th place, two shots back of Rhoades.
NC State returns to links on Sunday, March 24 when it begins play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, hosted by the College of Charleston at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendew, S.C.
