Wolfpack women honored as USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
NEW ORLEANS – Six members of the NC State men's and women's cross country teams received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, as announced by the organization's office Thursday afternoon. The six honorees mark the most for the Pack in a single season in program history.
The Wolfpack women, boasting a 3.39 team GPA, also earned distinction as a 2018 All-Academic Team, marking the 11th consecutive season that the NC State cross country programs have received either team or individual academic honors from the USTFCCCA.
Nell Crosby, Gavin Gaynor, Elly Henes, Heather Holt, Elijah Moskowitz and Isabel Zimmermann were listed among the 267 student-athletes who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. All six of the Wolfpack's honorees were already named to the 2018 All-ACC Academic Cross Country Teams, as previously announced at the end of January.
Henes was named an All-Academic individual for the third cross country season in a row, while the honors are the first for Crosby, Gaynor, Holt, Moskowitz and Zimmermann.
To be considered for individual honors, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. They must also have finished in the top-25 at the NCAA Regional Championships or be named an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
All six runners secured spots on the All-Region Team after their performances at the NCAA Southeast Regional, which the Pack swept for the second time in three seasons. Henes also went on to become an All-American for the second season in a row with a career-best 16th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
The team recognitions for the women added to another statement season put together by NC State during which the team captured the ACC and Southeast Regional crowns for the third year in a row. The Pack earned its fourth straight top-15 finish at the NCAA Championships to cap off its 2018 campaign.
