
#12/11 NC State Earns Big Road Win at #16/16 Syracuse

Kiara Leslie scores 30 points and grabs 10 rebounds in victory

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Led by three double-doubles from the starting lineup, the No. 12/11 NC State women's basketball team (22-2, 9-2 ACC) picked up an important 77-73 road win at No. 16/16 Syracuse on Wednesday evening inside the Carrier Dome.
Kiara Leslie (30 points, 10 rebounds), Elissa Cunane (22 points, 12 rebounds), and DD Rogers (16 points, 10 rebounds) all had outstanding games for the Wolfpack. The trio combined for 68 of the team's 77 points, with junior guard Aislinn Konig scoring the remaining nine on 3-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Leslie went 6-10 from distance on an evening when the Wolfpack shot 10-23 (.435) from long range.
In a game that featured 15 lead changes and six ties, NC State led for 24:19 and played from behind for 11:54. Trailing 57-55 with 40 seconds remaining in the third quarter, the Wolfpack took the lead for the final time when Leslie drilled a three-pointer 12 seconds later. NC State carried a 58-57 advantage into the fourth quarter and never allowed the Orange to tie or retake the lead during the course of the final 10 minutes despite pulling within one point on three occasions.

-NC State has won two straight against Syracuse, leads the series 6-4, and won for the first time in three attempts at the Carrier Dome.
-Syracuse shot 12-32 (.375) from distance but the Wolfpack held the Orange to just 1-10 shooting from range during the fourth quarter.
-Both Rogers and Cunane finished 7-11 from the field. Rogers' 16 points are a new career high and Cunane made her first career start.
-Syracuse point guard Tiana Mangakahia led the Orange with 25 points and a game-high 10 assists.
-NC State grabbed 50 rebounds for the fourth time this season (first time in ACC play).

NC State shot 8-17 (.471) in the first quarter to take a 19-16 lead through 10 minutes, but the Orange went 8-15 (.533) from the field in the second quarter to take a 37-35 lead into the halftime break. Cunane led the Wolfpack with 11 points on 4-6 shooting and was joined in double figures by 10 points from Leslie. Rogers was a perfect 4-4 from the field to score eight points while also grabbing six rebounds.
Syracuse was hot from distance in the opening 20 minutes, shooting 8-17 (.471) from three-point range.
NC State returns to action at home when No. 6/6 Notre Dame comes to Raleigh for the 14th annual Play4Kay game on Monday, Feb. 18. Tip-off from Kay Yow Court inside Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum is scheduled for 7 pm with live national television coverage provided by ESPN2's Big Monday. The game is officially sold out.
