Parchment Records Career-High 24 Kills Against Georgia Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. – Jade Parchment had a huge performance for the NC State volleyball team with a career-high 24 kills Sunday afternoon, in the team's heartbreaking five-set loss to Georgia Tech. Parchment's 24 kills came on a .353 hitting percentage and are the most for NC State since 2017.
Parchment also recorded 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. A trio of NC State players, Jessica Kemp, Lauryn Terry and Melissa Evans, joined Parchment in double-digits. Kemp tallied 14 while Terry and Evans had 10 kills apiece. NC State (9-15, 4-8 ACC) also tied a season-high with 15 blocks, led by Kemp and Terry who each had six.
Georgia Tech (16-7, 9-3 ACC) continued its hot streak, as the Yellow Jackets have now won eight-straight ACC matches. Tech was led by Mariana Brambilla with 21 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After dropping the first set, the Pack rebounded strong with a .289 hitting percentage in the second and a dominant .400 in the third set. NC State opened the second set with a 6-0 run behind the serve of Grace Irvin, including back-to-back kills from Evans. Up 12-8, Georgia Tech scrapped together several points to make it a one-point match, 12-11. Terry fired back with a kill starting a three-point swing for NC State that would put the Pack ahead for good.
The third set looked to be a close one, with both teams tied at six before Georgia Tech had three-straight attack errors, including two NC State blocks. The run extended to seven unanswered points before Tech's Kodie Comby recorded a kill. Both teams traded points back-and-forth, but NC State held onto a five-point lead, 16-11, before eventually taking the set by nine points.
NC State opened the fourth set with an 8-2 lead that included two blocks from Jessica Kemp. Parchment recorded three of the next five points, holding the Pack out to an 11-4 lead. Up four, 14-10, NC State used another run of four unanswered points for an 18-11 lead. The Pack held a 23-15 lead, before Georgia Tech went on a service run firing off ten unanswered points to take the set and force a fifth.
In the team's ninth five-set match of the year, NC State opened with a 3-1 lead. The set became a back-and-forth match as the Pack reached eight first, 9-6. Georgia Tech quickly pieced together three-straight points before taking its first lead of the set on a pair of NC State miscues. Kemp held off a Yellow Jacket set point but Brambilla came back with a kill of her own to take the match.
OF NOTE
NC State will take on a pair of in-state foes on the road next weekend, taking on Wake Forest and Duke.

- Nina Sharpton dished out 48 assists and 14 digs as well for a double-double.
- Kaylee Frazier and Kristen McDaniel also recorded double-digit digs with 11 and 13, respectively.
- Parchment hit 6-of-9 for .667 in the first set.
