
Pack Falls at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – The NC State volleyball team fell in a three-set match to Georgia Tech ( ) Sunday afternoon. The Pack struggled to get into rhythm, but were led by junior Melissa Evans with 13 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Evans also tallied a match-high 10 digs for her eighth career double-double.
Jade Parchment also tallied double-digit kills with 10 on a .389 hitting percentage and seven digs. Nina Sharpton had 28 assists marking her eighth consecutive match with 20+ assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pack opened strong in the first set, hitting .310 as a team but couldn't stop Georgia Tech's hitters as the Yellow Jackets had a .538 hitting percentage. Georgia Tech opened the set with a 3-1 lead, however, back-to-back kills from Evans and Parchment tied it up. Four unanswered points put the Yellow Jackets ahead 12-8. Parchment, who recorded a set-high five kills, recorded three of the next four points, pulling the Pack within two, 13-11. A 5-2 run put Georgia Tech back up five and despite three kills from Terry out of the timeout, NC State couldn't close the gap to less than four.
NC State's defense looked stronger in the second set, out digging GT 18-15, however, the Yellow Jackets committed only three hitting errors helping them to the 25-17 set win. In a third set that included no blocks for either team, Georgia Tech recorded a .667 hitting percentage. After allowing Tech to open to a 7-1 lead, NC State strung together five unanswered points, cutting the deficit to 8-5. The Yellow Jackets had two more 4-0 runs to close out the match.

OF NOTE
- Evans concludes the weekend averaging 4.5 kills per set and 1.75 digs. Evans currently sits with 377 kills this season, the fifth most in the rally-scoring era of the program.
- Sharpton now has 929 assists on the season which is 13 shy of the ninth most in the rally-scoring era of the program.
