Babelis, Barkai Tabbed No. 32 in Doubles National Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. - Following a strong few months of fall competition, Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai of the NC State men's tennis team were tabbed the No. 32 duo in the country in the latest edition of the Oracle/ITA Division I Doubles Rankings. It marks the first time that the pair has earned a national ranking.
Babelis and Barkai saw action at three tournaments in the fall and posted an impressive 10-3 doubles record in those matches. Three of their fall victories were against opponents ranked in the national top 60 at the time of competition.
The Wolfpack pair kicked off the season by claiming the doubles crown at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in September. Babelis and Barkai went a perfect 5-0 throughout the weekend of action at that tournament and took down two nationally-ranked opponents on the way to winning the title.
The duo went on to earn selection to the qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships in October. Babelis and Barkai won three matches in a row to book a spot in the doubles main draw at the national tournament. They also made a run to the doubles round of 16 at the ITA Carolina Regional later that month.
NC State is set to open its 2020 dual match season in January, with the full spring schedule set to be released at a later date.
