GREENSBORO, N.C. – After winning three individual events in the Wolfpack's season opener, NC State senior captain Coleman Stewart was named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The honors mark the first time in his Wolfpack career that he has been named conference Swimmer of the Week.
Stewart won all three events in his triple to kick off his 2019-20 campaign. The reigning ACC Men's Swimmer of the Year was NC State's top scorer at the meet as he helped lead the Pack men to a 194-104 victory in Friday's contest against South Carolina.
The York, Pa., native entered the season as the nation's top returner in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly. He picked up wins in both of those events during the Wolfpack's dual meet and also added a top finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
Stewart won the 100-yard backstroke in 46.59, a time that currently ranks No. 4 in the nation through the early weeks of 2019-20 and is good for an NCAA B cut. His 100-yard freestyle (44.32) and 100-yard butterfly (47.79) times also currently rank in the top 21 nationally.
Stewart also swam the second leg of NC State's top 400-yard freestyle relay team on Friday. His 43.97 split was the fastest for the Pack as the squad touched the wall with a time of 2:58.22.
The entire Wolfpack squad will return to action Nov. 7-8 for a quad meet against Kentucky, Missouri and Arkansas in Lexington, Ky.
