Wolfpack Completes First Day at ITA Carolina Regional

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The NC State women's tennis team completed the first day of competition at the ITA Carolina Regional on Thursday as freshman Marta Gonzalez-Ballbe battled her way to the main draw and the nation's top-ranked doubles duo (Anna Rogers and Alana Smith) picked up its first win of the weekend.
Gonzalez-Ballbe kicked off singles play for the Pack with back-to-back wins, advancing her to the main draw of singles play on Friday.
In the first round of doubles, Lexi Keberle and Liz Norman extended their win streak to four matches, thanks to a dominant 8-1 win over Wofford's Liz Massie and Rebecca Rubanov.
Teammates Gonzalez-Ballbe and Lana Mavor also picked up a first round doubles win, while Rogers and Smith and Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami had first round byes.
Rogers and Smith defeated Gardner-Webb's Daniel Naupari and Miljana Ristic 8-5 to advance in the tournament.
