Volleyball Returns Home to Host North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. – After playing 11 of its last 12 matches on the road, the NC State volleyball team returns to Reynolds Coliseum for a mid-week matchup against North Carolina Wednesday, Oct. 2. The Pack will host the Tar Heels for a 7 p.m. first serve on ACC Network.

NC State (5-9) returns home after facing Louisville and Notre Dame on the road last weekend to open ACC play. The Pack dropped a competitive five-set battle against the Cardinal before Notre Dame won 3-0 on Sunday.

Melissa Evans continues to lead NC State and ranks second in the ACC with 3.93 kills per set. Her total 220 kills leads the conference and is 34th across the nation. Additionally, Evans is one of just two players in the ACC to have three 20+ kill matches this season, which includes her 20 kill performance against Louisville.

Wednesday's match serves as the Wolfpack's annual Red Out match. All fans are encouraged to wear red, with free T-shirts available on the seats for the first 800 fans.

The Pack will also be supporting Warrior Princess Lakelynn's Lemonade Stand and Alex's Lemonade Stand. The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation funds impactful research, raises awareness, supports families and helps empower everyone to help cure childhood cancer. More information can be found here.

North Carolina owns an 85-32 series advantage with NC State being 2-4 against the Tar Heels under current head coach Linda Hampton-Keith.

The Pack swept North Carolina last season for the first time since 1991. It was also the first time since 1990-91 that NC State recorded consecutive home wins against North Carolina, after also defeating the Tar Heels at home in 2018.

SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
North Carolina (3-9) also opened ACC play with a pair of losses to Louisville and Notre Dame last weekend. The Tar Heels were swept by Notre Dame before falling 3-1 to the Cardinals. North Carolina's wins this season came against UC Irvine, Colgate and Radford.

Lauren Harrison leads the UNC offense, averaging 3.35 kills per set. Harrison had a solid weekend totaling 13 and 19 kills, respectively, against Notre Dame and Louisville. She also hit .455 against the Irish. Mia Fradenburg has played every set as libero for North Carolina, averaging 3.91 digs per set and ranking seventh in the ACC. The Tar Heels also rank third in the conference with 2.51 blocks per set.

ACC NETWORK
The ACC Network officially launched on Aug. 22 and serves as the home for all things ACC. The linear television network joins the digital platform, ACCNX, to broadcast thousands of events during the 2019-20 season. While all home NC State matches are available on ACCNX, Wednesday's match will be the Pack's first contest broadcast on ACC Network. NC State has an additional three matches on the linear network this season.Â
