Full 2018 Schedule
RALEIGH– The NC State cross country program has released its schedule for the 2018 season, as announced by head coaches Rollie Geiger and Laurie Henes.
The Wolfpack will kick off the 2018 season with its only home meet as it hosts the adidas XC Challenge. The meet is slated for Friday, Sept. 14 and will be held at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
NC State continued to find success on its home course in 2017 with Beth Taye taking home the individual crown. The Wolfpack women took first as a team and saw six runners in uniform place inside the top 10, including a 1-2-3 finish from returners Taye, Elly Henes and Dominique Clairmonte.
The NC State men placed second overall at the 2017 adidas XC Challenge, led by top-five finishes from returners Elijah Moskowitz (4th) and Tanis Baldwin (5th).
Two weeks later, the Wolfpack squad will head to Madison, Wis. for the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28. The meet, one of the nation's premier collegiate cross country events, featured a total of 35 nationally ranked programs in 2017.
NC State's runners will split up for two meets in the second weekend of October to close out the regular season. The Wolfpack will have entries in the Pirate Invitational (Greenville, N.C.) on Friday, Oct. 12 and in the Pre-NCAA Meet (Madison, Wis.) on Saturday, Oct. 13.
NC State's postseason will begin with the 2018 ACC Cross Country Championships, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 26. The conference meet will be hosted by Boston College at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
The Wolfpack women will look to win their third-straight conference title in 2018. NC State's women dominated at the 2017 ACC Championships and return the top three finishers, Clairmonte (3rd), Henes (4th) and Rachel Koon (5th), from last season's meet. On the men's side, NC State secured a third-place finish in 2017 and will return All-ACC performers Philip Hall, Joe Bistritz and Ben Barrett.
After the conference meet, the Pack is set to head to the campus of Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. for the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 9. The top two teams at the regional meet will receive automatic bids for the NCAA National Championships, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 in Madison, Wis.
Last season, the NC State women repeated as regional champions, and the men placed fourth as a team. Five Wolfpack runners finished in the top-25 between the men's and women's races to secure All-Region honors. Both squads earned berths to compete at the 2017 NCAA Championships where the women finished in the national top 10 for the third season in a row and the men finished 17th for the program's highest finish since 2011.
