King’s Brace Lifts Pack Past Navy In Season Opener, 2-1

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Thanks to a pair of second half goals from preseason All-ACC selection Tziarra King, the No. 20 NC State women's soccer team opened its season on Thursday evening with a 2-1 win over Navy at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Md.

The result marked the third consecutive year and fifth in six seasons that the program has opened its schedule with a win under head coach Tim Santoro.

How It Happened
-Navy broke the deadlock in the 34^th minute, as Kayla Robinson controlled a deflection on a clear out of NC State's box and found the back of the net from 20 yards out.
-King scored the equalizer in the 69^th minute. She found the ball in the box on a pass ahead to her from Taylor Porter in front of Navy's goalkeeper, and once in control fired into an empty net.
-King's game-winner came in the 73^rd minute when she picked up a loose ball after Madison Kline forced a Navy turnover 25 yards out, dribbled it inside the 18 and finished to the near right post.

NC State will open its home slate Monday when it hosts Monmouth at Dail Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
