FORT WORTH, Texas -- Three Wolfpack members traveled to Texas to compete in the Oracle ITA National Summer Championships hosted by TCU August 10-14. Senior Bianca Moldovan, junior Anna Rogers, and junior Adriana Reami made the trip to Fort Worth to stay active in summer competition.
Bianca Moldovan advanced to the round of 32 after defeating University of Miami (FL) incoming freshman Chloe Hamlin. Taking on Kansas University senior Nina Khmelnitckaia in an attempt to qualify for the round of 16, Moldovan dropped back-to-back sets in her loss to Khmelnitckaia on Sunday.
Anna Rogers won her first match of the tournament, beating Reagan Collins in two sets to advance to the round of 32. On Sunday, Rogers lost to University of Virginia's Meghan Kelley to close out her singles competition.
Rogers also participated in the doubles competition. With a bye in the round of 32 with doubles partner Meghan Kelley, the duo defeated opponents Olivia Hauger and Maria Smith Saturday to reach the quarterfinals. Rogers and Kelley went on to defeat Olivia Peet and Sydney Jones in the quarterfinals match. She then fell to Nina Khmelnitckaia and Janet Koch in the semifinals.
Adriana Reami broke into the round of 16 in the singles main draw. She defeated Caitlin Bernard of Indiana University in three sets in her opening match. Taking on Texas A&M's Riley McQuaid in the round of 32, Reami won the match in two dominant sets, 6-2 and 6-0.
While the ITA National Summer Championships signal the end of summer tournaments, the team can now look ahead to the 2018-19 season. The Pack returns four players in the top 10 of career singles wins: Amanda Rebol, Bianca Moldovan, Claudia Wiktorin, and Adriana Reami; three players in the top 10 of career doubles wins: Claudia Wiktorin, Anna Rogers, and Bianca Moldovan; and a doubles duo that earned the most doubles wins in a season in program history: Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin.
