
Kemp, Henes Earn All-America Honors To Close Season

EUGENE, Ore. - NC State distance runners Erika Kemp and Elly Henes both earned second team All-America honors in the 5,000m at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday evening, closing out the 2018 outdoor track and field season for the Wolfpack.
Kemp, who advanced to the outdoor national final in the 5,000m for the second season in a row and the third time overall, earned the best finish of her career as she placed 10th. The senior crossed the finish line in 15:48.62 to become an All-American for the sixth time, with her six honors coming from across both indoor and outdoor track and field and cross country competition.

In her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut, Henes placed 16th in 15:57.69 for the first All-America honors of her outdoor track and field career. Henes, who won the 2018 ACC title in the 5,000m, capped off an incredibly successful sophomore campaign, during which she also became a cross country and indoor track and field All-American.

The race marked the first time since 2004Â that two Wolfpack women have gained All-American status in the same individual event during the same season.Â
