Wolfpack Set For ACC Outdoor Championships

RALEIGH, N.C.– The NC State track and field teams will begin postseason competition at the 2018 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held Thursday through Saturday at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla.
Competition at the meet opens Thursday morning with the decathlon. Throughout the three days of the meet, select field events will be held in the late afternoon, with the bulk of the action taking place during the evening hours.
The ACC Network Extra will live stream four hours of coverage on each night of the meet. Sean Kenney will be on the call, and former U.S. Olympic standout Dan O'Brien will join him as the analyst. Distance race analyst David Mitchell and Melanie Newman will serve as the sideline reporters.

#ACCOTF REWIND:
NC State came away from the 2017 ACC Outdoor Championships in Atlanta, Ga. with three ACC titles on the men's side.
Cravont Charleston, then a true freshman, won the 100m and the 200m on the final day of competition at last season's ACC Outdoor Championships. His 100m time, a wind-aided 10.07, was the second-fastest in school history. Charleston earned Most Valuable Performer honors with his performance at the conference meet.
Charleston, Nyheim Hines, Junpai Dowdy, and Dylan Peebles also took the league title in the 4x100m relay, clocking in at 39.14 for the win.
The three first-place finishes helped propel the Wolfpack men's team to a fourth-place total of 78 points.
The women's squad finished ninth with 31 total points, led by First Team All-ACC performances from Rachel Koon, who took silver in the 10,000m, and Megan Moye, who placed third in the 1,500m.

SPRINTS/HURDLES:
The Wolfpack men hold two of the top three ACC marks in the 100m and four of the top 10 ACC times in the 200m. Cravont Charleston, the defending ACC Champion in the 100m and the 200m, owns a 10.10 wind-aided 100m mark that is second in the ACC. His national mark of 10.22 is tied for 25th. Dylan Peebles leads the way for the men's sprinters in the 200m, where he clocked a wind-aided 20.46 that ranks second in the ACC and 13th in the nation.
Gabriele Cunningham continued to show her versatility on the track throughout the outdoor regular season, posting times in three different events – the 100m, the 200m, and the 100m hurdles – that stand in the top six of the ACC rankings.
DISTANCE:
Erika Kemp ran the 5,000m at the Mt. SAC Relays, crossing the finish line in 15:43.28 to place third in an event in which she earned All-America honors during the 2017 outdoor season and in which she owns the program's second-best mark. Her time at the Mt. SAC Relays ranks No. 16 in the nation and second in the ACC.
Kemp is joined in the conference ranks of the 5,000m by teammates Elly Henes (15:49.51) and Dominique Clairmonte (15:55.73), who follow with the ACC's third and fourth-ranked times. Both of their marks also rank in the top 30 of the national standings.
THROWS:
Lauren Evans picked up two shot put wins over the course of the outdoor regular season. Her best mark of 2018 came with her first-place finish at the Virginia Challenge, where she tallied a 52' 1.75" (15.89m) throw for the ACC's third-best mark.
Tyson Fortenberry has top 10 ACC marks in both the discus (171' 9") and the shot put (53' 0"). The freshman earned a win in each event over the course of the regular season.
JUMPS:
Wolfpack freshman Michelle Cobb leads the way for the Wolfpack jumpers. After earning All-ACC honors in the triple jump during indoor season, Cobb impressed in her debut outdoor season. She started her freshman outdoor campaign with three-straight podium finishes in the triple jump. Her longest jump of the season checked in at a wind-aided 40' 11" (12.47m) at the Tom Jones Memorial.
ALL-CONFERENCE:
Athletes who medal (top three) in each individual event will earn First Team All-ACC honors, while those who place fourth through sixth will be named to the Second Team. For the relays, members of each winning relay team will be designated First Team All-ACC, and members of the second and third-place relay teams will earn Second Team honors.
