NC State Baseball Matches Highest-Ever Ranking at No. 2 in the Polls

RALEIGH, N.C. – After earning a pair of wins at 11^th-ranked Louisville last weekend to remain unbeaten in ACC series, NC State baseball leaps to No. 2 in this week's polls, which matches the highest-ever ranking for the program.

The Wolfpack checks in as the nation's second-ranked team in the Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game Polls.

NC State was also ranked No. 2 during the 2003 and 1993 seasons, but the Pack has never been tabbed the nation's top team.

The squad has enjoyed a stellar 2018 season, as the Wolfpack is 25-6 on the year highlighted by an 11-4 record in ACC play, which is the best in the conference. NCSU is one of just two schools in the league that has not lost a conference series.

The Pack owns the ACC's longest active series win streak (8) dating back to last season. After dropping the series opener in each of the last three weekends, NC State has battled back to win all three series, which is the first time the Wolfpack has won three consecutive ACC series after losing game one in program history.

NC State has been terrific at the plate and in the field, as the team's 47 home runs lead the ACC and its 3.25 ERA as a pitching staff is second in the conference.

The Wolfpack travels to UNCW for a midweek tilt Wednesday evening before hosting Notre Dame in a three-game series at Doak Field at Dail Park this weekend.
