#42 Wolfpack Outlasts Notre Dame, 4-3

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The #42 NC State women's tennis team made it three-straight ACC road wins as it outlasted Notre Dame 4-3 Sunday at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
The win moves NC State to 12-11 (5-5 ACC) and Notre Dame to 10-10 (2-8) ACC.
From the Coach
"Very proud of the team pulling out the win today," said head coach Simon Earnshaw. "We've really been on the road a lot this year and for us to handle this trip with both outdoor and indoor tennis says a lot about our growth particularly since Spring Break. I thought Notre Dame played a heck of a match and fought us all the way. The match point Adriana & Amanda saved at 5-6 deuce summed up how close the match was with us somehow pulling out what seemed like a 30 shot rally at that stage. Coming into this trip we really felt like it was an opportunity for us to step up but at the same time knew that a 4-3 scenario would most probably come up and that we'd need to come through some tight moments. That point in doubles plus Claudia saving five set points to clinch the match in the second set breaker proved that and we'll take confidence from this moving in. It doesn't get any easier next week with four matches on the schedule, although finally we'll be home and will be working hard to make that count. Go Pack!"
Doubles
The Pack continued its impressive doubles play as it again won the doubles point. Bianca Moldovan and Tayla Stenta defeated Rachel Chong and Bess Waldram 7-6 (7-2) at No. 2; with the point in the balance Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol overcame Brook Boda and Allison Miller 7-6 (7-3).
Singles
Adriana Reami earned a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position over Brooke Boda, Bianca Moldovan defeated Rachel Chong 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 and Claudia Wiktorin helped put the Wolfpack over the line as she defeated Cameron Corse 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) at the fourth flight.
