Wolfpack Heads To South Carolina For Gamecock Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track and field team is set to travel to Columbia, S.C. to compete at the Gamecock Invitational Saturday. The Wolfpack sends a solid squad to participate in events at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track, and NC State will also have jumpers and throwers in action all day Saturday.Â
The meet is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m. Saturday morning and will wrap up with the men's 4x400m relay, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. A full schedule of events for the Wolfpack can be found here.Â
All of the athletes competing for NC State this weekend made their outdoor season debuts at the Raleigh Relays.Â
LAST TIME OUT:
NC State kicked off its outdoor season last weekend as it hosted the annual Raleigh Relays. Three Wolfpack athletes earned first-place finishes with various others also finishing on the podium.
Gabriele Cunningham won the 100m hurdles, clocking a 13.83 in her first race of the outdoor season.
The Wolfpack men dominated the 200m, with three racers finishing in the top four. Dylan Peebles led the way, placing first with a 20.87 time that tied his PR, which stands as the ninth-best mark in program history. Shannon Patterson placed second with a 20.96 PR, and Cravont Charleston finished in fourth with a 21.02.Â
Michelle Cobb continued to show success in the triple jump as she made her outdoor debut in an event in which she earned All-ACC honors during the indoor season. The Wolfpack freshman's winning jump was marked at 40' .5" (12.20m) and turned in as the eighth-best triple jump in NC State history.Â
NATIONAL MARKS:Â
Through one weekend of competition, the Wolfpack distance runners are already impressing with personal-best times and marks that sit as some of the best in the nation.
Erika Kemp began her outdoor season with a 4:17.93 1,500m time that currently ranks seventh in the nation.
In the women's 5,000m, Elly Henes took second place at the Raleigh Relays, clocking a 15:49.51 that is the nation's No. 8 mark. Dominique Clairmonte also holds a 5,000m time that ranks in the national top 15. She ran a 15:55.73 to sit at No. 12 in the country. Those performances by Henes and Clairmonte are also the top two 5,000m times in the ACC.

NC State will be in action at two meets next weekend as it travels to Gainesville, Fla. for the Tom Jones Memorial and Charlotte, N.C. for the Charlotte Invitational.Â
