Wolfpack Welcomes Boston College For Weekend Series

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team returns home this weekend to host Boston College in a three-game series at Dail Stadium. Due to expected inclement weather Saturday the teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 4 and 6:30 p.m., and meet for the finale Sunday at 12 p.m. There will not be a game Saturday.
All three games will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra, and the first game of Friday's doubleheader will be the Wolfpack's annual Pink Game presented by UNC Rex Healthcare.
The Pack enters the weekend with a 20-16 (4-7 ACC) record and the Eagles are 16-15 (5-3 ACC).
Last Time Out
NC State traveled to Liberty Wednesday and fell 5-2. Chandley Garner's RBI single in the third inning brought a run across, but a five-run burst in the fifth by the Flames led to their victory. Haylee Kobziak cut the deficit to three in the fifth with an RBI single.
All-Time Series
Friday will mark the 35th time the teams have met as NC State leads the all-time series 22-12. Last year the Pack traveled to Chestnut Hill, Mass., April 28-30 and the Eagles took the series 2-1. BC won the first game 6-1, NC State evened the series with a 4-1 win in game two but fell in the rubber match 7-6.
NC State In ACC Play
After turning five at Louisville last weekend NC State leads the ACC in double plays against conference opponents with nine, and ranks second among the league with a .971 fielding percentage. Alyssa Compton, Garner and Timberlyn Shurbutt rank second in the category individually with five apiece.
Garner and Shurbutt own a league-best four home runs apiece, combining for the team's eight against conference opponents which ranks fifth in the ACC.
Scouting Boston College
BC is on a seven-game win streak with its most recent win coming Wednesday when the Eagles run-ruled Providence on the road 16-4 (5). In ACC play Boston College has won its last five games after sweeping Virginia and taking two games from Syracuse. The third game of the BC-Syracuse series was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Chloe Sharabba leads the team at the plate with a .356 batting average, 36 hits and 24 runs. As a team BC owns a .244 clip, averaging 6.54 hits and 4.29 runs per game. In the circle the Eagles hold a combined 2.21 ERA as Allyson Frei and Jessica Dreswick have combined for the team's 15 wins. Dreswick leads the staff with 11 wins while Frei has earned four. The two own a combined 198 strikeouts and have thrown a majority of the team's innings.
