Cunningham, Charleston Advance In Sprints At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - Gabriele Cunningham (100m, 100H)Â and Cravont Charleston (100m) both advanced out of the preliminary round in their sprint events Friday afternoon to advance to Saturday's finals in the events.Â
Charleston kicked off action for the sprinters in the 100m prelims. He clocked a 10.52, the second-fastest time in his heat, to earn automatic qualification for the final.Â
Competing in back-to-back events, Cunningham impressed with an 11.44 in the 100m and a 13.36 in the 100m hurdles. Both of those times were the fastest posted during the prelims for the respective events and moved her to the final in each.Â
JaTory Reid, the last of the Wolfpack jumpers to compete at the Penn Relays, took ninth in the high jump Friday afternoon. His best jump of the day measured in at 6' 8.25" (2.04m).Â
Tyson Fortenberry finished NC State's afternoon with a 52' .25" (15.86m) throw in the shot put that placed 15th in a field of 48.

Fortenberry kicks off NC State's final day of competition at the Penn Relays with the discus throw at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Beginning at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Charleston will run in the final of the 100m, followed by Cunningham's appearances in the 100m and 100m hurdles finals.Â
The Wolfpack will also have a group in action at the Virginia Grand Prix in Charlottesville, Va.Â
