
Wolfpack Set For Three Weekend Meets

NC State heads to Mt. SAC Relays, Virginia Challenge, and Duke Invitational
RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track and field squad will be in action at three meets across the country Friday and Saturday. Select groups of athletes will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, Calif. and the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., while a large group of the Wolfpack's roster heads to Charlottesville, Va. for the Virginia Challenge.Â

Distance runner Erika Kemp and five of NC State's sprinters - Gabriele Cunningham, Cravont Charleston, Quashawn Cunningham, Shannon Patterson, and Dylan Peebles -Â will make the trip to the campus of El Camino College for the 60th Annual Mt. SAC Relays.
The event, which is known for producing some of the nation's best marks, saw 50 NCAA Division I top-10Â marks posted in 2017. NC State's competitors, many who already hold solid national times, will look to continue improving their marks headed into the final few weeks of the outdoor regular season.

The Wolfpack sends 16 athletes to Charlottesville to compete across 23 events over the course of the Virginia Challenge, which runs all day Friday and Saturday. It is the only meet this weekend at which the NC State field athletes will compete, with the Pack represented across the throws and jumps. Grant Rivers will also make his season debut in the men's decathlon.Â
The night session of both days of competition will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. both days.

Six of NC State's distance runners will make the short trip to Durham. On the women's side, Megan Vaughn will run the women's 1,500m and Rebekah Greengrass and Gianna Frontera will run the 5,000m. For the men, Tanis Baldwin and Jack Hagood will compete in the 1,500m, and Kyle Christ will represent the Wolfpack men in the 5,000m.Â
Action at the meet begins at 9 a.m. Friday morning, starting first with the two 5,000m races.Â

LAST TIME OUT:
The Wolfpack competed at two meets on Friday, April 13 with athletes at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla. and the Charlotte Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.Â
At the Tom Jones Memorial, the team saw success across the board in the men's 200m as all four athletes finished in the top 15. Two of those sprinters, Peebles (20.46) and Patterson (20.65), posted marks that are in the top 20 of the national standings.
Gabriele Cunningham ran the 100m for the first time this season and placed fourth, clocking an 11.25 that ranks 18th in the nation.Â
Michelle Cobb was the highest-placing field performer at the meet, taking second. The Wolfpack freshman picked up her third podium finish of the outdoor season in the triple jump with a 40' 11" (12.47m) jump.
A group of NC State's distance runners competed in the 1,500m at the Charlotte Invitational.
Elly Henes led the way, taking first in the event with a 4:18.76 PR that is No. 16Â nationally. Kemp, who already owns the nation's 11th-best time, placed second in 4:18.82.
The Wolfpack men had four runners finish in the top 10 of the 1,500m, led by Philip Hall who took silver with a 3:50.07 PR.Â
UP NEXT:
NC State is set to travel to Philadelphia for the 124th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The three-day meet will run from Thursday, April 26 through Saturday, April 28.
