
Softball Travels To Syracuse This Weekend For ACC Series

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team will begin its final road swing of the regular season when it travels to ACC foe Syracuse this weekend for a three-game series. The teams will meet Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. at Skytop Softball Stadium.
The games Friday and Sunday will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 22-22 (5-12 ACC) record and the Orange are 23-18 (5-11 ACC).
Last Time Out
NC State hosted Duke on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup and fell 7-4. It was the first-ever meeting between the programs in the NCAA season.
Final Stretch
After this weekend the Pack will travel to East Carolina April 25 for its final midweek game of the season, then return home for weekend series against UNCG (April 28-29) and Florida State (May 4-6).
Eight And Counting
After Wednesday's game against Duke Cheyenne Balzer has reached safely on a hit, walk or hit-by-pitch in the last eight games, dating back to the team's first game against Boston College on April 6.
Garner Making An Impact
Freshman Chandley Garner currently leads the team with a .540 slugging percentage and eight homers. She's turned in a team-best nine multi-hit performances and 26 RBI. She's started 43 of 44 games at second base this season, the most among the freshman class.
All-Time Series
Friday will mark the 11th meeting between the teams, as the Pack leads the all-time series 7-3. Last year the teams met for a weekend series in Raleigh and the Pack won the series 2-1. The teams split its doubleheader (3-0, 5-11) on March 10 and NC State took the series on March 11 with an 8-7 win.
Scouting Syracuse
The Orange are on a three-game win streak and have won five of their last six games. The squad is coming off of a doubleheader sweep (10-6, 7-1) against Niagara at home on Wednesday.
Bryce Holmgren leads the team at the plate with a .417 batting average along with 48 hits and 29 runs.
Alexa Romero paces the pitching staff with a 1.90 ERA and 14 wins in 144.0 innings pitched. The team is averaging 7.68 strikeouts per game and the squad owns a combined 2.70 earned-run average.
