
NC State Wraps Up At Tom Jones Memorial, Charlotte Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Facing off against some of the nation's best track and field athletes, the NC State sprinters, jumpers, and throwers competed at the Tom Jones Memorial, an invitational hosted by the University of Florida Friday.Â
SPRINTS/HURDLES:
Gabriele Cunningham continued to lead the way for the NC State female sprinters. After winning her heat and placing fourth overall in the 100m with an 11.25 time, Cunningham also clocked an impressive 23.31 in the 200m against a solid field. She finished as the second-fastest collegiate athlete in the race.
Cravont Charleston took fourth in the 100m, running a 10.10 and leading the collegiate athletes in that race.
In the 200m, the Wolfpack men all earned top-15 finishes in that field. Dylan Peebles (20.46) took sixth, Shannon Patterson (20.65) placed 12th, and Quashawn Cunningham (20.81) finished 15th in his season debut.
Alexis Postell was the lone Wolfpack competitor in the hurdles, competing in both the 100 and 400 contests. In her first time competing in the 400 hurdles, she placed first in her heat with a 1:02.86 that is good for third in program history.Â
JUMPS:
Michelle Cobb added her third podium finish in as many tries in the triple jump. She notched a seven-inch PR of 40' 11" (12.47m) on her final jump of the afternoon.
JaTory Reid completed a top-five high jump performance, managing a 6' 8" (2.03m) jump.Â
THROWS:
Joshua Davis posted an ACC qualifying mark in the hammer throw, placing fifth in the field with a 202' 3" (62.84m) throw.
Lauren Evans placed fifth in the women's shot put. She tallied a 49' 9.5" (14.87m) throw on her third attempt.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NC State sent a squad of men's and women's distance runners to compete in the 1,500m at the Charlotte Invitational Friday evening.Â
The Wolfpack women saw three runners finish in the top five. Elly Henes took first place in her first 1,500m race of the season. The NC State sophomore clocked a 4:18.76 PR, which is seventh in school history, 13th in the country, and the third-best mark in the ACC this season.
Erika Kemp took second with a 4:18.82, and Ryen Frazier place fifth in 4:28.10.
The men also managed to crowd some of the top finishes in the 1,500m. Philip Hall led the way, winning silver with a 3:50.07 PR. Also finishing in the top 10 were Patrick Sheehan (3:51.68) in fourth, Gavin Gaynor (3:52.17 PR) in fifth, and Tim Bason (3:52.22) in sixth.

NC State will once again head two ways next weekend as it sends athletes to Torrance, Calif. for the Mt. SAC Relays and Charlottesville, Va. for the Virginia Challenge.
