Softball To Meet In-State Rival UNC-Chapel Hill This Weekend

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team is set to take on in-state rival UNC-Chapel Hill this weekend in a three-game ACC series. The teams will meet at Anderson Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C., at 6 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Monday.
The first two games will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra and the finale on Monday will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 21-19 (4-10 ACC) record while the Tar Heels are 23-20 (11-4 ACC) this season.
Last Time Out
NC State hosted Campbell on Wednesday and earned a 6-5 win. Haylee Kobziak's three-run homer in the third and Jessica Moore's two-run shot in the fifth lifted the Pack past the Camels to snap a five-game loss streak.
Cheyenne Balzer and Alyssa Compton each turned in a multi-hit performance, their seventh of the season.
All-Time Series
Friday will mark the 47th time the teams have met in program history, as the Tar Heels hold a 24-22 advantage in the all-time series.
The teams met in Chapel Hill last year for a three-game series and the Pack avoided a sweep thanks to an 8-7 victory in the finale. At the ACC Championship, hosted by the Tar Heels, the teams met again in the semifinals and UNC won 8-7.
Extra-Base Hits
The Pack has hit 48 doubles and seven triples this season, ranking among the top six in the ACC in both categories. The team's seven triples is fifth all-time for most in a season while the squad is on track to rank among the top 10 all-time for most doubles in a season.
Jade Caraway has hit two triples this season and holds seven in her career to rank second all-time for career triples. She's three away from tying the school record of 10 and four from breaking it.

The Pack has hit 29 homers this season, averaging .72 home runs per game to rank fifth among the ACC in the category. 23 of the 29 have been hit by underclassmen as freshman Chandley Garner paces the team with eight which is the third-most in the ACC.

The Tar Heels have won four of five ACC series this season, including sweeps over Duke and Virginia Tech. In its last time out UNC-CH split its midweek games when it defeated Longwood 3-0 at home on Tuesday and fell to James Madison 9-0 (5) on the road on Wednesday.
Kiani Ramsey leads the squad at the plate with a .402 clip, while the team is batting .283 and averaging 7.44 hits per game.
Brittany Pickett paces the pitching staff with a 2.27 earned-run average, as she has thrown 225.0 of the team's 292.2 innings. She holds a 21-7 record in the circle with 151 (81 percent) of the team's strikeouts.
