Pair Of Homers Lift Pack Past Campbell, 6-5

RALEIGH – Haylee Kobziak's three-run blast in the third inning and Jessica Moore's two-run shot in the fifth lifted the NC State softball team past Campbell 6-5 on Wednesday at Dail Softball Stadium.
The Wolfpack improves to 21-19 on the season while the Camels fall to 18-23.
How It Happened
-The Camels struck first, plating a run in the second. A pair of outfield singles put runners at the corners, and a double steal brought across the run.
-NC State scored four runs on as many hits and an error in take its first lead in the contest in the third inning. Jade Caraway reached on an error to start the side, and after Cheyenne Balzer's single through the left side moved her to third, Alyssa Compton singled up the middle to bring her home and knot the game. Kobziak then homered to left center to score the other three runs.
-In the top of the fourth three walks loaded the bases, and a wild pitch allowed Campbell to score. A hit-by-pitch re-loaded the bases and the runner at third scored on a 6-5 fielder's choice to cut the deficit to one.
-The Camels knotted the game at four in the fifth on an RBI double to left center after a two-out single to right field put a runner on first.
-The Pack answered in the bottom frame with a pair of runs. Kobziak drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on Angie Rizzi's sacrifice bunt. Then after a line out to center field Moore belted a two-run homer.
-After a scoreless sixth inning for both squads Campbell tried to rally in the seventh with a leadoff home run and walk, but a strikeout, fly out and groundout left the runner stranded.

-Kobziak's homer was her fourth of the season and Moore's was her first.
-Kama Woodall (7-7) picked up the win in the circle as she replaced Devin Wallace in the fourth, giving up two runs and striking out two.

NC State will play a three-game series at ACC foe UNC-Chapel Hill this weekend. The teams will meet Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Monday at 7 p.m. All three games will be contested at Anderson Stadium, as the first two games will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra and the finale Monday will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
