
Pack in Fifth with One Round Left at Chris Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, GA. – The NC State men's golf team sits in a tie for fifth place after two rounds of play at the Chris Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Pack shot a six-under par 282 on Saturday, improving on its first round score by four strokes to sit at eight-under for the tourney. College of Charleston is tied with the Pack in fifth place. Vanderbilt remains the leader and has opened up a nine shot lead on second-place Kentucky. Mississippi State and host Georgia Southern are tied for third place, three shots ahead of NC State and College of Charleston.
Stephen Franken and Nolan Mills Jr., lead the Pack on the leaderboard with both players tied for ninth place with two round scores of four-under par. Franken shot a team-low 68 on Saturday, while Mills recorded a two-under par 70 for the second consecutive day.
Benjamin Shipp had the second lowest score on the day for NC State with a three-under par 69. Shipp sits in a tie for 20th in the tournament with a three-day score of two-under par.
Harrison Rhoades is in a tie for 54th place after shooting a 76 on Saturday and it is at three-over par for the tourney. Freshman Easton Paxton rounds out the Pack lineup in a tie for 63rd place at four-over par after shooting a 75 in the second round.
Final round play for NC State begins at 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
