#24 Gymnastics Posts Season-Best 196.800 in Tri-Meet with #23 Ohio State & Central Michigan

Pack's 196.800 ties fourth-highest score in program history
COLUMBUS, Ohio – After having only a day to rest since senior night, the #24 NC State gymnastics team earned a season-high score of 196.800 in its tri-meet against #23 Ohio State and Central Michigan Sunday inside St. John Arena.
Along with being a season-high, the Pack's 196.800 tied the fourth-highest score in program history and the second-highest score in the EAGL this season. NC State's 49.325 tied the highest vault score in school history and Chelsea Knight's all-around score of 39.550 tied the highest all-around score in school history.
The Wolfpack also set four individual career-highs and tied two others.

"Today was a total team effort," said head coach Kim Landrus. "Looking back, there were so many highlights. I was super impressed how we started off on bars. The bar team had a high level of composure and set the tone for the entire competition. From there, we just kept taking it one routine at a time, one event at a time. I saw that we were in a zone. We always talk about 'being us' and today all of them carried out this motto.
This team keeps growing and getting better each meet. Championship season is upon us. Today was a great performance. The exciting thing is, this team knows there is still room to grow and improvements that can be made. We look forward to continuing to build upon our successes thus far."

Bars
Posting a score of 49.075, its second-highest bars score of the season, the Pack was led by Caitlyn Fillard who took fifth with a career-high score of 9.875. Maggie Tamburro tied for sixth with a 9.850, tying her career-high, while Chelsea Knight and Lauren Kent tied for ninth with scores of 9.800.
Beam
Chelsea Knight finished first with a score of 9.925, Nicole Wild tied her career-high of 9.900 to tie for fourth and Drew Grantham took eighth with a 9.825. The Pack's event total was 49.200.
Floor
The Wolfpack continued its run of strong performances on floor as it earned a score of 49.200. Chelsea Knight finished second with a 9.900, Alexa Phillips and Mackenzie Itcush tied for seventh with scores of 9.850 while Caitlyn Fillard and Katie Cox, who was in the lineup for the first time in her career, tied for tenth with scores of 9.800.
Vault
Along with setting a season-high, the Pack closed the night out in historic fashion by tying the best vault score in program history, 49.375. Chelsea Knight earned a career-high of 9.925 to win the event while Alexa Phillips also earned a career-high, posting a score of 9.900 to take second. Drew Grantham and Caitlyn Fillard tied for fifth as each earned scores of 9.850; Mackenzie Itcush's score of 9.800 saw her tie for ninth.
All-Around
Chelsea Knight won all-around; her 39.550 was a career-high, tied the highest all-around score in program history and is the second-highest all-around score in the EAGL this season. Caitlyn Fillard's score of 39.200 saw her finish third.

In its final regular season meet of 2018, the Pack takes on Towson, West Virginia, William & Mary and Cornell on Mar. 18 at 2 p.m. in Towson, Maryland.
