Softball Travels To UNCW For Midweek Matchup

RALEIGH – After concluding a ten-game home stand on Sunday the NC State softball team (10-5) will travel to UNCW (4-5) Wednesday for a midweek game, marking its second road trip of the season. First pitch is 4 p.m. at Boseman Field.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend the Pack hosted Delaware State, Ohio and Wagner in the Homewood Suites by Hilton RDU/RTP Invitational, and clinched the tournament title after posting a 4-1 record.
BEST START SINCE '07
NC State has won six out of its last seven games and is off to its best start since 2007, when the program also opened the first portion of its season with a 10-5 record.
The program's record so far this season includes four run-rule victories, four shutout wins and one win over a ranked opponent (then-No. 22 Ohio State).
NO-HITTER
Last weekend the Pack's pitching staff threw a no-hitter in both of its matchups with Wagner. Devin Wallace pitched all seven innings in Friday's 3-0 win while Kama Woodall and Brittany Nimmo threw a combined effort in Saturday's 8-0 (5) victory.
The last time prior to this past weekend was on May 2, 2015, when Emily Weiman threw a complete game shutout at Appalachian State.
The staff holds a combined 2.37 ERA and is holding its opponents to a .218 batting average.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Wednesday will mark the eighth meeting between the programs, as the Seahawks own a 4-3 advantage in the all-time series. The teams met last year at Dail Stadium and the Pack suffered a 6-0 loss.
SCOUTING UNCW
Last weekend UNCW hosted Maine, Longwood and Bucknell in the 2018 Seahawk Softball Classic and went 2-3. The Seahawks picked up wins over Maine (3-1) and Longwood (4-2).
Three players on UNCW's team are batting over .300 as Lacey Fox and Kelsey Bryan lead the team with nine hits apiece. As a team UNCW is averaging 5.66 hits per game and 2.88 runs per game.
All four pitchers on its staff have earned one win this season and own a combined 2.75 ERA.
