
Softball To Host Homewood Suites By Hilton RDU/RTP Invitational

RALEIGH – Following its first shutout win of the season on Wednesday the NC State softball team returns to action Friday when it plays host to the Homewood Suites by Hilton RDU/RTP Invitational.
The Wolfpack (6-4) will welcome Delaware State (0-4), Ohio (3-2) and Wagner (0-0) to Dail Stadium this weekend, as the tournament will be a round-robin format. NC State will face Delaware State and Wagner at 2:30 and 4:45 p.m. Friday, and Ohio at 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
The No. 1 and 4 seeds will then meet at 2:30 p.m. Saturday while the No. 2 and 3 seeds will play at 4:45 p.m. Sunday the winners from both games will meet in the championship game at 12:15 p.m., while the losers will play in the third-place game at 10 a.m.
All of NC State's games will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.

LAST TIME OUT
The Pack faced in-state opponent Elon on Wednesday in its first midweek contest of the season, and shut out the Phoenix 7-0. As a team NC State tallied 10 hits in the game, led by Lily Bishop's two home runs and 3 RBI.
Natalie Jones earned her first start of the season as she went 2-for-2 at the plate and Jade Caraway was 3-for-4 with a single, double and triple along with 2 RBI.
Kama Woodall and Devin Wallace combined for the shutout in the circle, giving up seven hits while Wallace earned the win and improved to 3-2 on the season.
ALL-TIME SERIES
NC State leads its all-time series with Delaware State 4-0 and Ohio 2-1. The Pack and Hornets last met on March 13, 2016, in Raleigh and NC State earned an 8-0 win in five innings.
NC State last faced Ohio on March 18, 2016, at Dail Stadium and suffered a 2-0 loss.
Friday will mark the first meeting in program history between NC State and Wagner.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Delaware State opened its season last weekend at the Liberty Softball Challenge, and dropped all four of its contests as the Hornets played Liberty and Central Michigan twice apiece.
Ohio also opened its season last weekend at the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational and picked up wins over Virginia (4-0), UNCG (5-2) and Jacksonville State (3-0).
Wagner will open its season this weekend in Raleigh. Last season the Seahawks posted a 22-25 record, highlighted by a run to the NEC Championship final.
