NC State hosts strong Belmont program to open 2018-19 season

RALEIGH – The #17/16 NC State women's basketball team's 45th season in program history officially begins Wednesday evening when the Belmont Bruins come to town. Tip-off from Reynolds Coliseum is scheduled for 7 pm with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.

A WIN ON WEDNESDAY WOULD...
-Be the 889th win in program history (888-461).
-Be the 671st win in HC Wes Moore's career (670-221).
-Be NCSU's 460th win at Reynolds Coliseum (459-131).
-Be Moore's 113th win at NC State (112-52).
-Mark NC State's 16th straight 1-0 start to a season.

-Belmont returns two starters and eight players from a team that went 31-4, won its third consecutive Ohio Valley Conference tournament, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
-The Bruins were 13-1 away from home last season.
-Belmont ranked top 50 nationally in 21 statistical categories - including third in 3-point field goals made and seventh in scoring margin - and ranked first in the OVC in 19 statistical categories last season.

Junior guard Aislinn Konig has hit at least one three-pointer in 33 consecutive games dating back to Nov. 15, 2017. She hit 91 last season, setting a new program single-season record. The previous mark of 90 was held by Jennifer Howard since the 1995-96 season.

POSTSEASON PROGRESS
During the 2018 postseason, NC State participated in NCAA Tournament games in Raleigh for the first time since 2007. The Wolfpack is 14-2 in NCAA Tournament games played in Raleigh and has not lost a home game in the tournament since 1983.

NC State made its third NCAA Tournament appearÂance during HC Wes Moore's fifth season in Raleigh. This marks the first time that the Wolfpack has made two consecutive NCAA Tournaments since the proÂgram did so in 2006 and 2007. With the first-round victory over Elon on Mar. 16, NC State has won at least one game in back-to-back tournaments for the first time since the program did so in 1998 and 1999.

In addition to the usual gauntlet of challenging ACC games, NC State will play a non-conference schedule this season that features eight postseason teams from a year ago and an average opponent RPI of 120.
