
Women’s Soccer To Face Santa Clara Friday In Los Angeles For NCAA Second Round

RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team is set to face third-seeded Santa Clara Friday in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET. The matchup will be hosted by second-seeded UCLA at the Wallis Annenberg Stadium, and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
Friday will be the third all-time meeting between the teams, as the Wolfpack enters the matchup with an 11-6-3 record while the Broncos are 17-3-1 this season.
NC State is receiving votes for the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll while Santa Clara is ranked No. 7.
So We Meet Again
NC State and Santa Clara will meet Friday for the second time in three years in postseason play.
The teams last met on Nov. 20, 2016 in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Stanford's campus in Palo Alto, Calif. The Wolfpack suffered a 3-0 loss that ended its season.
The Pack will look for its first win in program history against the Broncos, as Santa Clara owns a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series.
Weekend Schedule
If NC State were to win Friday's NCAA Second Round match, it would face the winner of the UCLA vs. Minnesota contest Sun., Nov. 18 at 9 p.m. ET in the Sweet 16. All matches this weekend will be held at UCLA's Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
Last Time Out
NC State shut out Northwestern 1-0 on Friday evening at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, marking the third consecutive year and 11th time in program history the team has advanced to the NCAA Second Round.
Jenna Butler's header goal off of Hannah Keogh's corner kick in the 76th minute proved to be the game-winner. It was the first of her career.

Homecoming
For Keogh, Madison Kline, Hope McQueen, Taylor Porter and Sydney Wootten, this weekend will be a homecoming as all five hail from The Golden State.
Keogh, McQueen, Porter and Wootten are all San Diego natives while Kline is from Yorba Linda. San Diego is nearly two-and-a-half hours from Los Angeles, while Yorba Linda is just under an hour from LA.
Scouting Santa Clara
Santa Clara defeated Wisconsin-Milwaukee 4-1 on Saturday in the NCAA First Round on its home turf in its last time out. The Broncos finished second in the West Coast Conference regular season standings with a 7-2 record and 21 points.
Maddy Gonzalez leads the team with eight goals, while Maria Sanchez, Kelsey Turnbow and Kelcie Hedge have all scored seven apiece. Sanchez leads the team in points (30) and assists (16). Goalkeeper Melissa Lowder has played a majority of the season in goal, as she has earned six shutouts and owns a 1.03 goals-against average.
