#17 Wolfpack Cruises Past Golden Flashes

NC State has won 20 straight home non-conference games

RALEIGH – The 17th-ranked NC State women's basketball team (2-0) cruised to a comfortable 78-61 victory over the visiting Kent State Golden Flashes Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Coliseum to begin a season 2-0 for the ninth consecutive year.
The Wolfpack worked its way out to a 20-7 lead after the first 10 minutes and never looked back, not letting the Golden Flashes pull any closer 11 points for the final three quarters. NC State led by as many as 26 points (78-52) with 1:34 remaining in the contest before Kent State ended the game on a 9-0 run.
Aislinn Konig (15 points), Grace Hunter (15), and Kiara Leslie (12) scored in double figures for the Wolfpack on an afternoon during which the team shot a red-hot 29-53 (.547) from the field and 13-23 (.565) from three-point range. On the defensive end, NC State held Kent State to 17-55 (.309) shooting and a 9-29 (.310) success rate from distance. Kent State's Megan Carter led all players offensively, scoring 22 points on 5-15 shooting and a 10-14 mark at the free throw line.
Leslie recorded her sixth career double-double on Sunday afternoon, pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds for the Wolfpack. She also tied a career high with five steals.

-Sunday's game featured 35 fouls and 34 free throws.
-Konig went an impressive 5-6 from beyond the arc and has now made at least one three-pointer in 35 consecutive games dating back to Nov. 15, 2017.

-Twelve players saw at least one minute of action for the Wolfpack on Sunday and nine scored. Sunday marked the collegiate career debut of freshman Esra McGoldrick.
