NC State Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets at Florida State
10/5/2018 9:53:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After winning its previous two trips to Tully Gym in 2016 and 2017, the NC State volleyball team was unable to make it three consecutive wins against Florida State at home, as the Seminoles defeated the Wolfpack in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-22).

It was just the third time this season that NC State has been swept and in contrast, all of Florida State's wins have come in straight sets.

The Wolfpack moves to 8-7 on the year and 2-3 in ACC play, while the Seminoles improve to 8-7 in 4-1 in conference action.

Overall thoughts...
"We're disappointed in tonight because we felt like we never quite got going enough to give us a chance to compete," said third-year head coach Linda Hampton-Keith. "There were many moments of great things happening individually, but we never put it together as a team so that's frustrating.

"We know when we go on the road we have to execute cleanly and tonight we weren't able to get enough people going to slow down FSU's offense."

Match Rewind
- NC State had a tough start to the match, as Florida State won the first three points of the frame but the Wolfpack battled back to take a 13-12 lead following consecutive kills from Melissa Evans.
- After a service error by the Seminoles to knot the set at 14 apiece, FSU pulled away down the stretch to win the opening set, 25-17.
- The second set was tightly contested, as neither team was able to grab a lead of more than three points.
- Kills from Lauryn Terry and Teni Sopitan along with a service ace from Kassie Kasper gave the Wolfpack an 18-17 lead.
- Unfortunately, the Seminoles countered with three unanswered points to force an NC State timeout at 20-18.
- The Pack tried to close the gap late in the set after a kill from Keira Moore and an attacking error, but consecutive kills followed to give FSU the 25-22 second-set win.
- With the third set knotted at 11-11 after a kill from Sopitan, the Seminoles scored four consecutive points to take a 15-11 advantage.
- Sopitan put down a kill and teamed up with Moore on a block assist to cut the Florida State lead to 23-21, but the 'Noles held on for the 25-22 win to clinch the match.
