Pack Opens Main Draw Competition at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – NC State men's tennis seniors Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic competed in the main draw at the Saint Francis Health System Men's ITA All-American Championships Thursday. The brothers paired up to play doubles, and Igor was also in action the the first round of singles competition.
Igor and Ivan, who are ranked 15th in the nation as a doubles pair, earned an automatic bid into the main doubles draw and faced No. 43 Fabian Fallert and Finn Reynolds of Ole Miss in the opening round. The brothers jumped out to a solid start, taking the first set by a 6-4 score backed by a couple of service breaks early in the match.
Ole Miss went on to win a tight second set by a 7-5 score to force a tiebreaker for the third set and took the super tiebreaker 10-7 to win the match.
Igor also competed in singles play after earning a berth in the main draw by advancing out of the qualifying draw as a lucky loser. He matched up against No. 84 Juan Carlos Aguilar of Texas A&M Thursday afternoon, falling 6-3, 7-6 (2) in the first round.
UP NEXT:
Igor and Ivan will continue play in the consolation doubles bracket, with action resuming Friday, and Igor will also be in action in the singles back draw. Consolation singles and doubles finalists will secure a berth to the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which is scheduled to be played Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz.
