Volleyball Ends Tough Road Swing with Loss at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – The NC State volleyball team saw a tough four-match road swing end with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 26-24) loss against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Sunday afternoon inside O'Keefe Gym.
 
It was just the second time the Wolfpack has been swept in ACC play and both have come on the road. The Yellow Jackets have compiled a 13-3 record in home matches this season.
 
NC State falls to 10-12 on the year and 4-8 in conference action, while Georgia Tech moves to 15-10 and 4-8 against league competition.
 
Match Rewind
- NC State started slow in the match, as Georgia Tech raced out to a 12-6 lead to force a Wolfpack timeout.
- A block from Melissa Evans and Keira Moore cut the Yellow Jackets advantage to five, but Tech pulled away down the stretch to win the opening set, 25-16.
- Georgia Tech jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished en route to taking a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 second-set win.
- Moore put down a kill to make it 4-2, but five consecutive points followed for the Yellow Jackets and they grabbed control of the frame.
- The third set was closely contested, featuring 10 ties and three lead changes.
- NC State raced out to a 5-0 lead in the set before Georgia Tech rallied to knot the set at 10-10 following a service ace from Mikaila Dowd.
- A 4-1 run tied the frame at 15-15 after a service ace from Makenzie Kuchmaner.
- Trailing 22-21, Evans put down a kill and a block assist from Sarah Konchan and Lauryn Terry followed to give NC State a 23-22 lead.
- The Pack fought off the first match-point opportunity with a kill from Evans, but the Yellow Jackets responded with consecutive points to win the match.
 
Top Performers
- Evans led NC State with nine kills, while Teni Sopitan put down seven.
- Kylie Pickrell dished out a match-high 25 assists to go along with 10 digs to notch her 10thdouble-double.
- Kuchmaner contributed eight digs and Grace Irvin pitched in with five.

NC State will play five of its remaining six matches at home inside Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack is next in action on Friday, Nov. 2 against Wake Forest. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
