Wolfpack Falls To Cardinals, 2-1

RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest with Louisville on Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Stadium.
Despite a second-half goal by Courtney Walker to pull the team within one along with a couple of last minute chances, the Wolfpack was unable to level the score.
The Pack falls to 10-5-3 (3-4-2 ACC) while the Cardinals improve to 12-4-0 (6-3-0 ACC) on the season.

How It Happened
The teams put one shot apiece on target in the opening third of the first half. In the 21st minute, Maisie Whitsett headed in a shot off of Allison Whitfield's corner kick to give the Cards a 1-0 advantage.
NC State's best scoring opportunity of the half was in the 37th minute when Kia Rankin had a header shot off a cross that missed wide, which lead to a corner.
Louisville opened the second half with a goal in the 50th minute to double its lead, as Emina Ekic got a foot on the rebound of a blocked shot.
Walker scored her first career goal in the 66th minute to pull the Pack within one. Tziarra King played her a through ball off of Ricci Walkling's volley to 25 yards out, and Louisville goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos was out of position to allow Walker's low strike to find the back of the net.
In the later part of the second half the Pack pressured more offensively to try and level the contest, including a pair of corners in the final two minutes of regulation, but were unable to score.
Louisville outshot NC State 9-5, as Sydney Wootten was forced to make five saves while the Pack put three on target. NC State won four corners compared to the Cards' two.

NC State will conclude its regular season schedule Oct. 25 when it travels to No. 6 Virginia. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium and will be broadcast on Regional Sports Networks (RSN).
