
Wolfpack Earns Season-High Beam Score at Metroplex Challenge

FORT WORTH, Texas - Competing against three of the nation's best teams at the Metroplex Challenge, the NC State gymnastics team earned a season-high beam score of 49.175 as part of its total of 195.825 Saturday night inside the Fort Worth Convention Center.
NC State's beam total beat its previous best mark of 49.00 set last weekend in its home opener against Ball State and William & Mary. The Wolfpack 's total of 195.825 was its second-highest team score of the season along with being its highest away score.

"The team entered the arena focused and excited about the opportunity to compete on podium against the nation's best," said head coach Kim Landrus. "The way they handled themselves was extremely impressive; beam stood out as they finished with a season high beam score after hitting six-for-six. This was another great step towards our team goals this season. I'm confident we'll build on this to be at our best in the March and April."

Finishing with a team score of 48.950, NC State was led by Drew Grantham as she posted a score of 9.850. Alexa Phillips and Beucler both had strong outings as they each posted scores of 9.800.
Vault
Alexa Phillips earned a score of 9.800 to lead NC State on vault while Beucler, Fillard and Grantham each finished with scores of 9.775, with the score being a new career-high for Beucler. As a team, the Wolfpack earned a total of 48.875.
Bars
Earning a 48.875 team score, Knight's score of 9.825 led NC State while Lauren Kent's mark of 9.800 was the second-highest score she's earned in her career. Grantham and Tamburro both earned scores of 9.775, the mark being a new career-high for Grantham.
Beam
The Pack had a stellar day on beam as it posted a season best mark of 49.175. Knight led the way with her score of 9.875 while Fillard and Beucler both earned high scores of 9.850; a career high for Fillard a season high for Beucler.
All-Around
All-arounders for the Pack included Grantham (39.225), Fillard (38.850) and Knight (38.825).
