BUDAPEST, Hungary – Andreas Vazaios joined Greek swimming royalty at the 2017 FINA World Championships on Wednesday, setting a new Greek national record in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 1:57.98 in the event's semi-final.
While Vazaios finished ninth and just missed out on qualifying for the final, along with setting a Greek record, he also set a new program record and produced a personal best time.

Wolfpack head coach Braden Holloway spoke enthusiastically about Vazaios' achievement.
"Outstanding swim by Andreas to break our program record and hit a best time" he said. "Although we know he wanted to sneak in the final, this was a great showing by him and we are proud of his efforts and result."
Up Next for the Wolfpack
Lotta Nevalainen will compete in the 100 freestyle on July 27, while Vazaios will look to continue his tremendous form in the 100 butterfly. Simonas Bilis will also be competing in the 50 freestyle.
