Former Wolfpack standout makes sixth World Cup appearance of playing and coaching career

INCHEON, Korea Republic – Tab Ramos, former NC State men's soccer standout and current head coach of the United States U-20 Men's National Team, prepares to begin his 2017 World Cup journey on Monday, May 22.
The United States is in Group F of the upcoming tournament hosted by South Korea and will take on Ecuador (May 22 at 4 a.m. ET), Senegal (May 25 at 7 a.m. ET), and Saudi Arabia (May 28 at 5 a.m. ET) in group play. Following the round-robin style of the group stage, 16 teams will advance to the knockout portion of the tournament beginning May 30.
About Tab Ramos
Tab Ramos was an All-American at NC State in 1985, 1986, and 1987. He earned All-ACC First Team mentions in each of those years after earning a Second Team honor as a freshman in 1984. The Wolfpack made four NCAA Tournament appearances during his career, with Ramos scoring 31 goals and contributing 42 assists throughout his time in the Wolfpack red and white.
A three-time member of the U.S. World Cup teams in 1990, 1994, and 1998, Ramos appeared in 81 matches for the United States. Ramos has served as the head coach of the U.S. U-20 MNT since 2011. During this time, he's led the team to three World Cup berths (2013, 2015, and 2017) highlighted by a quarterfinal appearance in 2015. At the 2015 tournament in New Zealand, the U.S. defeated Myanmar and host New Zealand to emerge from Group A before ultimately falling to Serbia on penalties in the quarterfinal round.
