Two Earn All-Conference Honors at Day 1 of ACC Outdoor Championships

Atlanta, Ga. - Two Wolfpack competitors earned All-ACC honors during the first day of competition at the 2017 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Atlanta.
Sophomore Rachel Koon was the runner-up in the women's 10,000 meters, running a personal best of 34.45.98. That finish earned her first-team all-conference accolades.Â
Junior Joshua Davis, the school record holder in the hammer throw, won All-ACC honors in that event for the second straight year. Â He finished with a 214'1 (65.27m) throw to earn second-team all-conference honors.

Other highlights from Day 1, which finished later than scheduled due to a lightning delay at Georgia Tech's George G. Griffin Track & Field Facility, were the Wolfpack sprinters. The Wolfpack took two of the top spots in the preliminaries of the men's 200 meters.

Freshman Cravont Charleston ran a personal best 20.98 – the second-fastest time in the prelims – while fellow freshman Dylan Peebles posted the fourth-fastest 200m time with a PR of 21.17.Â

On the women's side, sophomore Gabriele Cunningham also ran the best time of her collegiate career, finishing 6th in the 200m prelims with a 23.54. Lauren White clocked in at 24.62, but did not advance. The finals of the men's and women's 200 meters will be held on Sunday evening.

NC State advanced two to the finals of the women's 1500 meters, as Megan Moye ran a 4:23.85 to finish sixth overall while Ryen Frazier clocked in with the 10th-fastest time in the prelims with a 4:26.31. The finals of the 1500m will be held on Sunday afternoon.

Erika Kemp (4:30.30) and Megan Rempel (4:29.90) also competed in the 1500m, but did not advance, while Philip Hall ran a 3:51.24 in the men's event.  Bianca Bishop finished ninth in the women's 10,000m with a 36.13.94 clocking while Elijah Moskowitz finished eighth in that event on the men's side at 29:47.44.
 Lauren Evans finished 10th overall in the women's hammer with a 180'2 (54.91).
Grant Rivers was the top finisher in the decathlon high jump, posting a height of 6'7-1/2" (2.02m). He will continue the decathlon competition on Saturday.
