Senior guard is only player in NC State history to reach 1,500 points and 400 assists

PHOENIX – Senior guard Miah Spencer of the No. 17/17 NC State women's basketball team has been added to the training camp roster of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the team announced recently.
Spencer helped the Wolfpack achieve a very successful 2016-17 season that featured four wins over top-15 opponents, 12 victories in Atlantic Coast Conference play, and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 in Austin, Texas.
A player with a knack for making clutch plays since her first appearance in the Red & White of NC State, Spencer hit THIS game-winning shot in overtime of the Wolfpack's Feb. 2 win at No. 9/7 Louisville.

Named All-ACC First Team in a vote of the league's coaches … Named All-ACC Second Team in a vote of the league's Blue Ribbon Panel … Started all 32 of the Wolfpack's games, averaging 30.5 minutes, 12.8 points, 4.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game … Shot 140-289 (.484) from the field throughout the season, the second most accurate rate on the team among those who attempted at least 50 field goals … Shot 112-140 (.800) from the FT line, third best on the team … Is the only player in the 43-season history of NC State women's basketball to score 1,500 points and dish out 400 assists … Finished her career 12th all-time in points with 1,585 … Finished her career fourth all-time in assists with 496 … Owns the eighth and ninth best assist seasons in program history, at 151 (as a junior) and 152 (as a senior) … Scored a career-high 31 points in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 game at No. 14/15 Texas … Scored 10+ points on 22 occasions during her senior season … Scored 20+ points on four occasions during her senior season … Ended her career with 83 career games of 10+ points, a figure that ranks tied for 10th in program history … Recorded 4+ assists in 21 of the team's 32 games … Finished the season with a 1.90 assist to turnover ratio (1.47 career) … Did not miss a single game throughout her entire career, playing all 129 (101 starts) to rank tied for sixth in program history … Ends her career ranking No. 1 in program history with 428 made FTs.
Phoenix opens the 2017 WNBA preseason at Seattle on Wednesday, May 3. The Mercury then hosts Seattle on Sunday, May 7 in its final exhibition game before hosting the Dallas Wings on Sunday, May 14 to officially begin the season.
