No. 25 Women's Tennis to Play Virginia Tech Saturday

RALEIGH – The No. 25 NC State women's tennis team will travel to Blacksburg, Va., to face Virginia Tech Saturday in its final regular season road match. Play will take place at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center and is set to begin at 3 p.m.. The Wolfpack will enter the weekend with a 17-7 (6-5 ACC) record and is playing hot on a seven match winning streak.
Last Time Out
NC State defeated Syracuse on the road last week, winning the match by a final score of 5-2. The Wolfpack's duo of Martina Frantova and Anna Rogers earned their 12th straight victory, handling Virginia Tech's Gabriela Knutson and Miranda Ramirez in No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 decision. Freshman Adriana Reami won her seventh match in a row, battling Maria Tritou through three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4).
Wolfpack in the Rankings
Martina Frantova and Anna Rogers continue to climb the Oracle/ITA doubles poll, breaking into the top 15 to land at No. 14. The tandem has gone undefeated in its last 12 matches and has accumulated an 18-1 (10-1 ACC) season record at the top doubles position. Frantova and Rogers mark the second-highest ranked doubles tandem in NC State history, just behind Sandhya Nagaraj and Sanaa Bhambri who peaked at No. 7 in 2011.
Despite coming off a strong 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win over No. 94 Miranda Ramirez of Syracuse in her last match, Frantova fell slightly from her previous rank in the singles poll to land at No. 66. The senior holds a season record of 11-11 (9-5 ACC).
In the team poll, NC State is ranked 25th, moving up two places from last week.
Scouting Virginia Tech
The Hokies are fresh off a narrow 4-3 home win over Syracuse on Thursday, moving the team's record to 10-10 (3-8 ACC). Virginia Tech is led in doubles by No. 52 ranked duo of Caroline Daxhelet and Francesca Fusinato. They also have two on their roster ranked nationally in singles competition, as Natalie Novotna comes in at No. 95 while Fusinato follows at No. 96.
