RALEIGH – The NC State men's golf team concludes the regular-season portion of the 2016-17 schedule this weekend on its home Lonnie Poole Golf Course. The annual Wolfpack Spring Open will tee off Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. and will feature three total rounds of golf over two days. Admission is free for those who wish to attend.
Â
THE COURSE
Known as an excellent and challenging course on the NCAA golf circuit, Lonnie Poole Golf Course hosted the 2014 NCAA Men's Regional and the 2015 NCAA Women's Regional. Located on 250 acres inside the city of Raleigh, the golf course routing is largely dictated by elevation changes. It meanders around large buffer areas left in place to protect streams and wetlands in the Neuse River watershed. The buffer provides a protected habitat for wildlife and native plant species. Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson, both graduates of the NC State College of Design, were the lead architects.
Â
For the purposes of the Wolfpack Spring Open, the course will play a par of 71 over 7,046 yards.
Â
RECENT RESULTS AND SEASON RECORD
NC State has shot below 860 in three consecutive tournaments and finished within the top four each time. The Wolfpack—and senior Jacob McBride—most recently placed second at the Gary Koch Invitational on April 11.
Â
To this point in the season, NC State's cumulative record sits at 80-40-3.
