Parsons Dazzles at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. – Sam Parsons ran for the second-fastest 10,000m time in school history at Stanford's Cobb Track on the biggest stage of the weekend. Parson's time is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA this season.
The Newark, Del., crossed the finish line in 28:43.74 to finish 11th overall and fifth among college athletes. The time was a 28-second personal best and moves Parsons from seventh to second in school history. Only Chad Pearson has run a faster 10,000m in school history, setting the record of 28:37.95 in 2004.
The early race should qualify Parsons for the NCAA East Preliminary. Last postseason, Parsons finished 20th in the 10,000m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
