
Gymnastics Set For Gainesville Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. – Members from the NC State gymnastics team are set to compete at the NCAA Regional in Gainesville, Fla., at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center starting at 4 p.m. on Sat., April 1.

The meet will be streamed on ESPN3 and live stats will be available.

Chelsea Knight, Paris Phillips, Amanda Fillard and Melissa Brooker qualified in their respective events, and Drew Grantham will serve as an alternate.

Where the Pack Stands:
Chelsea Knight has qualified for regionals for the second straight year and will compete as an all-arounder. In 2016, Knight represented the Pack on vault and served as an alternate for the all-around competition. She enters this year's meet with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 39.145 and a season high of 39.525. Knight was a finalist for the EAGL Gymnast of the Year and earned All-EAGL honors in all-around, vault, bars and beam.

Paris Phillips is slated to compete on vault and serve as an alternate for floor and the all-around competition. Phillips enters her first regional meet with a RQS on vault of 9.800. The Athens, Ga., native holds a RQS of 38.805 in all-around and a RQS of 9.845 on floor. Phillips earned All-EAGL honors in all-around, vault and floor this season.

The Wolfpack swept the individual spots in the bars competition, as Amanda FIllard and Melissa Brooker claimed both spots. Fillard holds a bars RQS of 9.855 and Brooker has a RQS of 9.840. Both gymnasts earned All-EAGL honors on bars. The meet marks the second regional competition in Fillard's career and is a career first for Brooker.

Drew Grantham will be the third Wolfpack gymnast making her first trip to regionals. Grantham will serve as an alternate on beam after setting a RQS of 9.790 in the event. She recently earned All-EAGL honors on floor and all-around.

Scouting the Gainesville Regional:
The Gainesville regional features competition from No. 3 Florida, No. 10 Georgia, No. 15 Missouri, No. 30 New Hampshire, No. 33 Penn State and No. 35 North Carolina along with individuals from Towson and Maryland.

NC State faced both Florida and Georgia during non-conference action during the season. The Pack opened the season at home against Florida and scored a 194.925. NC State added a 194.800 in a dual against Georgia in the second weekend of the season.

Most recently, the Pack met with EAGL opponents North Carolina, Towson and New Hampshire at the 2017 EAGL Championships. The Pack took third in the overall meet for wins over North Carolina, Towson and Pittsburgh.

During the regular season, NC State set a season-high 196.150 in a dual against Towson.

NCAA Championship Qualification
A total of 12 teams and 12 all-around competitors and event specialists will advance to the NCAA Championship. The top two teams and top two all-around competitors from each regional will receive and automatic berth to the national championship. In addition, event winners of each rotation at the six regional championships will advance (in that event only).
